U.S. Military Deaths in Iraq -- 2006

August 15, 2006

• Two soldiers, Sgt. Michael C. Lloyd, 24, of San Antonio, Tex., and Sgt. Kevin L. Zeigler, 31, of Overland Park, Kan., died of injuries from an explosive device in Baghdad, Iraq.

Sgt. Kenneth A. Jenkins, 25, of Fouke, Ark., died in Balad, Iraq of injuries sustained on Aug. 12 from battle with enemy forces.

August 11, 2006

Sgt. Tracy L. Melvin, 31, of Seattle, Wash., died of injuries sustained on Aug. 6, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV in Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

August 10, 2006

Lance Cpl. Jeremy Z. Long, 18, of Sun Valley, Nev., died conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

• Two soldiers, Sgt. Steven P. Mennemeyer, 26, of Granite City, Ill., and Sgt. Jeffery S. Brown, 25, of Trinity Center, Calif., were recovered Aug. 9 and 10. respectively near Rubtbah, Iraq.

August 6, 2006

• Three soldiers, Sgt. Stephen A. Seale, 25, of Grafton, W.V, Sgt. Carlton A. Clark, 22, of South Royalton, Vt., and Cpl. Jose Zamora, 24, of Sunland Park, N.M. died in Baghdad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near their HMMWV.

August 5, 2006

Spc. Brian J. Kubik, 20, of Harker Heights, Texas, died Aug 5 in Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries suffered on Aug 2 in Baghdad, Iraq.

August 4, 2006

• Two soldiers, Sgt. Clint J. Storey, 30, of Enid, Okla., and Sgt. Bradley H. Beste, 22, of Naperville, Ill., died in Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

Sgt. Leroy Segura Jr., 23, of Clovis, N.M., died in Habbaniyah, Iraq, of injuries suffered from a HMMWV accident.

August 2, 2006

Petty Officer Marc A. Lee, 28, of Hood River, Ore., was killed Aug. 2 during combat operations in Ramadi, Iraq.

Sgt. Dustin D. Laird, 23, of Martin, Tenn., died in Al Qaim, Iraq, of injuries sustained during combat operations in Rawah, Iraq, on Aug. 1.

Cpl. Joseph A. Tomci, 21, of Stow, Oh., died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Pfc. Jason Hanson, 21, of Forks, Wash., died July 29 while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Spc. Hai Ming Hsia, 37, of New York, N.Y., died during combat operations in Ar Ramadi, Iraq.

July 29, 2006

Lance Cpl. Anthony E. Butterfield, 19, of Clovis, Calif. died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Sgt. Christian B. Williams, 27, of Winter Haven, Fla. died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Cpl. Phillip E. Baucus, 28, of Wolf Creek, Mont., died while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

July 27, 2006

Lance Cpl. James W. Higgins, 22, of Frederick, Md., died from wounds received while conducting combat operations in Al Anbar province, Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Christopher W. Swanson, 25, of Rose Haven, Md., died on July 22 in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, of injuries sustained when his patrol encountered enemy forces small arms fire.

July 26, 2006

Petty Officer 2nd Class Edward A. Koth, 30, of Towson, Md., died at Camp Victory, Iraq, after ordnance exploded during a disposal operation.

July 25, 2006

Spc. Joseph A. Graves, 21, of Discovery Bay, Calif., was killed in Baghdad, Iraq, when his convoy encountered enemy fire.

July 24, 2006

Spc. Dennis K. Samson Jr., 24, of Hesperia, Mich., died on in Taqaddum, Iraq, of injuries sustained by enemy small arms fire.
