U.S. Military Deaths in War With Iraq -- 2003

Sgt. Jaror C. Puello-Coronado, 36, of Pocono Summit, Pa., died while manning a traffic point when the operator of a dump truck lost control of the vehicle at Camp Edson, Iraq. Puello-Coronado was struck by the truck and died of his injuries.

July 12, 2003

Spc. Joshua M. Neusche, 20, of Montreal, Mo., died from a non-combat cause in Homburg Hospital, Germany.

July 11, 2003

Spc. Christian C. Schulz, 20, of Colleyville, Texas, Schulz died as a result of non-combat injuries in Baqubah, Iraq. This incident is under investigation.

July 9, 2003

Sgt. 1st Class Dan H. Gabrielson, 39, of Spooner, Wis., died while traveling in a convoy that came under attack. He was killed by hostile fire in Ba Qubah, Iraq.

Sgt. Melissa Valles, 26, of Eagle Pass, Texas, died as a result of non-combat injuries in Balad, Iraq. The incident is under investigation.

Sgt. Roger D. Rowe, 54, of Bon Aqua, Tenn., was killed as a result of an enemy sniper attack in Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Jason Andrew Tetrault, 20, of Moreno Valley, Calif., was killed in a vehicle accident in Kuwait.

July 8, 2003

Sgt. 1st Class Craig A. Boling, 38, of Elkhart, Ind., died in Camp Wolf, Kuwait.

Pvt. Robert L. McKinley, 23, of Kokomo, Ind., died in Homberg, Germany.

July 7, 2003

Spc. Chad L. Keith, 21, of Batesville, Ind., was killed when was on patrol and his vehicle drove past an object that exploded on the side of the road in Baghdad, Iraq.

Staff Sgt. Barry Sanford, Sr., 46, of Aurora, Colo., died in Balad, Iraq.

July 6, 2003

Sgt. David B. Parson, 30, of Kannapolis, N.C., was killed while conducting a raid on a house when he was shot Baghdad, Iraq.

Spc. Jeffrey M. Wershow, 22, of Gainesville, Fla., was killed while conducting military operations when he was shot in Baghdad, Iraq.

July 3, 2003

Pfc. Edward J. Herrgott, 20, of Shakopee, Minn., died from a gunshot wound while on patrol in Baghdad, Iraq.

Pfc. Corey L. Small, 20, of East Berlin, Pa. died from a non-combat related cause in Iraq.

July 2, 2003

Cpl. Travis J. Bradachnall, 21, of Multnomah County, Ore. was killed in an explosion during a mine-clearing operation near the city of Karbala, Iraq.

July 1, 2003

1st Sgt. Christopher D. Coffin, 51, of Bethlehem, Pa, died when his vehicle ran into a ditch while he was trying to avoid a civilian vehicle on Highway 8 in Iraq.

June 28, 2003

Sgt. Timothy M. Conneway, 22, of Enterprise, Ala., died of wounds inflicted when the vehicle Conneway was traveling in was struck by an explosive device in Baghdad, Iraq.

June 27, 2003

Cpl. Tomas Sotelo Jr., 20, of Houston, Texas, was killed while traveling in a convoy when a rocket-propelled grenade struck his vehicle in Baghdad, Iraq.

June 26, 2003

Spc. Corey A. Hubbell, 20, of Urbana, Ill., died from a non-combat related cause in Camden Yards, Kuwait.

Hospitalman Joshua McIntosh, 22, of Kingman, Ariz., died in Karbala, Iraq, from a non-hostile gunshot wound.

Spc. Richard P. Orengo, 32, of Puerto Rico, was shot and died of injuries he received on June 26 in An Najif, Iraq.

June 25, 2003

Spc. Andrew F. Chris, 25, of California, was fatally wounded in combat operations in hostile enemy territory in Iraq.

Lance Cpl. Gregory E. MacDonald, 29, of Washington, D.C., died in Iraq when the light armored vehicle he was traveling in rolled over.
