U.S. Military Deaths in War With Iraq

• Pvt. Robert L. Frantz, 19, of San Antonio, Texas, died of injuries sustained in a grenade attack while he was on guard duty in Baghdad, Iraq.

• Pvt. Shawn D. Pahnke, 25, of Shelbyville, Ind., received a fatal gunshot wound while on patrol in Baghdad, Iraq.

• Spc. Joseph D. Suell, 24, of Lufkin, Texas, died from a noncombat-related cause in Todjie, Iraq.

• Pfc. Ryan Cox, 19, of Derby, Kan., died in Najaf, Iraq, of wounds suffered from what the Defense Department described as a "noncombat weapon discharge."

• Andrew Pokorny, 30, of Naperville, Ill., died June 13 in Asad, Iraq, when his vehicle rolled over while he was returning from patrol.

• Spc. John Klinesmith, 25, of Stockbridge, Ga., was found dead June 12 in a lake on a palace compound in Fallujah, Iraq. He had been last seen wading in the lake.

• Pfc. Gavin Neighbor, 20, of Somerset, Ohio, died June 10 while off from guard duty in Baghdad, Iraq, after he was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade.

• Sgt. Michael Dooley, 23, of Pulaski, Va., died June 8 at a traffic control post in Asad, Iraq, when the occupants of a car asked for help and then opened fire.

• Pvt. Jesse Halling, 19, of Indianapolis, died June 7 at a military police station in Tikrit, Iraq, when he and other troops were hit by rifle-propelled grenades and small arms fire.

• Petty Officer 3rd Class Doyle Bollinger, 21, of Poteau, Okla., died June 6 near Baghdad, Iraq, when an ordnance accidentally exploded in the area where he was working.

• Sgt. Travis Burkhardt, 26, of Edina, Mo., died June 6 in Baghdad, Iraq, when his vehicle rolled over during an escort mission.

• Pfc. Branden Oberleitner, 20, of Worthington, Ohio, died June 5 in Fallujah, Iraq, while returning from patrol when his unit was fired on by a rocket-propelled grenade.

• Sgt. Atanacio Haromarin, 27, of Baldwin Park, Calif., died June 3 near Balad, Iraq, while manning a checkpoint when his unit came under enemy fire.

• Sgt. Jonathan W. Lambert, 28, of Newsite, Miss., died June 1 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Germany, as a result of injuries he suffered when his vehicle rolled over on May 26 in Iraq.

• Spc. Zachariah W. Long, 20, of Milton, Pa., killed when the vehicle in which he was traveling from Mosul to Tikrit, Iraq, swerved off the road to avoid a civilian vehicle and turned over, May 30.

• Spc. Michael T. Gleason, 25, of Warren, Pa., killed when the vehicle in which he was traveling in from Mosul to Tikrit, Iraq, swerved off the road to avoid a civilian vehicle and turned over, May 30.

• Spc. Kyle A. Griffin, 20, of Emerson, N.J., killed when the vehicle in which he was traveling from Mosul to Tikrit, Iraq, swerved off the road to avoid a civilian vehicle and turned over, May 30.

• Spc. Jose A. Perez III, 22, of San Diego, Texas, killed in Taji, Iraq when his convoy was ambushed, May 28.

• Staff Sgt. Kenneth R. Bradley, 39, of Utica, Miss., died in Baqubah, Iraq, May 28. Bradley's death was noncombat-related.

• Sgt. Thomas F. Broomhead, 34, of Cannon City, Colo., killed in Fallujah, Iraq, when a vehicle pulled up and assailants fired on him at a checkpoint, May 27.

• Staff Sgt. Michael B. Quinn, 37, of Tampa, Fla., killed in Fallujah, Iraq, when a vehicle pulled up to the checkpoint he was guarding and assailants fired on him, May 27.
