U.S. Military Deaths in War With Iraq

• Marine Cpl. Armando Ariel Gonzalez, 25, of Hileah, Fla., killed when a commercial refueler truck collapsed while he was working underneath it at Logistics Supply Area Viper in southern Iraq, April 14.

• Army Spc. Richard A. Goward, 32, of Midland, Mich., killed in a vehicle accident in Iraq, April 14.

• Army Spc. Gil Mercado, 25, of Paterson, N.J., killed by a noncombat weapon discharge in Iraq, April 13.

• Marine Lance Cpl. David Edward Owens Jr., 20, of Winchester, Va., died of wounds received in action in central Iraq, April 12.

• Marine Cpl. Jesus Gonzalez, 22, of Indio, Calif., was killed in action on April 12 after one of two men posing as landscape workers approached and shot him as he guarded a medical checkpoint in Baghdad.

•Marine Staff Sgt. Riayan Tejeda, 26, of New York, N.Y., was killed on April 11 in northeast Baghdad.

• Marine Sgt. Brendon C. Reiss, 23, of Casper, Wyo., killed in action near Nasiriyah, April 10.

• Marine Gunnery Sgt. Jeffrey Bohr, Jr., 39, of Ossian, Iowa, was killed in action on April 10 in northern Baghdad.

• Army Staff Sgt. Terry W. Hemingway, 39, of Willingboro, N.J., killed when a car exploded next to the Bradley fighting vehicle he was traveling in, April 10.

• Army Sgt. 1st Class John W. Marshall, 50, of Los Angeles, killed by an enemy rocket-propelled grenade in a Baghdad ambush, April 8.

• Marine Pfc. Juan Guadalupe Garza Jr., 20, Temperance, Mich., killed in action in central Iraq, April 8.

• Army Cpl. Henry L. Brown, 22, Natchez, Miss., died of wounds received from an enemy rocket attack south of Baghdad on April 7.

• Army Staff Sgt. Robert A. Stever, 36, Pendleton, Ore., killed in action in Iraq, April 8.

• Army Pfc. Jason M. Meyer, 23, Swartz Creek, Mich., killed in action in Iraq, April 8.

• Air Force Staff Sgt. Scott D. Sather, 29, Clio, Mich., killed in action in Iraq, April 8.

• Air Force Maj. William Watkins, 37, Danville, Va., killed while serving as the weapons systems officer of an F-15E fighter aircraft that went down during a combat mission in Iraq, April 7.

• Air Force Capt. Eric B. Das, 30, Amarillo, Texas, killed while piloting an F-15E fighter aircraft that went down during a combat mission in Iraq, April 7.

• Army Staff Sgt. Lincoln D. Hollinsaid, 27, Malden, Ill., killed in action in Iraq, April 7.

• Army 2nd Lt. Jeffrey J. Kaylor, 24, Clifton, Va., killed in action in Iraq, April 7.

• Army Pfc. Anthony S. Miller, 19, San Antonio, Texas, killed in action in Iraq, April 7.

• Marine Lance Cpl. Andrew Julian Aviles, 18, Palm Beach, Fla., killed in action in central Iraq, April 7 when an enemy artillery round struck the amphibious assault vehicle he was riding in.

• Marine Cpl. Jesus Martin Antonio Medellin, 21, Fort Worth, Texas, killed in action in central Iraq, April 7 when an enemy artillery round struck the amphibious assault vehicle he was riding in.

• Army Spc. George A. Mitchell, 35, Rawlings, Md., died of wounds received from an enemy rocket attack south of Baghdad on April 7.

• Army Pfc. Gregory P. Huxley, Jr., 19, Forestport, N.Y., killed in action in Iraq, April 6.

• Army Spc. Pvt. Kelley S. Prewitt, 24, Alabama, killed in action in Iraq, April 6.

• Army Staff Sgt. Stevon A. Booker, 34, Apollo, Pa., killed in action in Baghdad, April 5.

• Marine 1st Sgt. Edward Smith, 38, Chicago, Ill., died April 5 as a result of injuries received in action in central Iraq.
