Wendy's Massacre Suspect Pleads Guilty

N E W   Y O R K, Jan. 22 -- One of the two men charged in the massacre at aWendy's in Queens last spring pleaded guilty today to shootingthree of the five people killed. Two others were wounded.

Craig Godineaux, 30, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder androbbery in connection with the slayings May 24 at the fast foodrestaurant.

Godineaux, crying quietly, disclosed details of the shooting,prompting some victims' families to leave the courtroom in tears.

He received five consecutive life sentences without parole foreach of the five victims when he is sentenced on Feb. 21.

Fisher told Godineaux that he won't come out of prison alive.

Officials had determined that Godineaux was mentally retardedand under state law, couldn't be sentenced to death.

But the death penalty will be sought for Godineaux'sco-defendant, John Taylor, 36, a former employee at Wendy's.

Godineaux and Taylor allegedly herded the seven restaurantworkers into a basement freezer, where they were all bound and shotin the head execution style.

When asked by Assistant District Attorney Robert Masters what their plan was, Godineaux responded:"Go into the store and take everybody downstairs and shoot them."
