Suspect, 3 Victims Dead in Shooting Spree in Colorado Springs, Colorado: Police
Officers killed the suspect in a shootout, police said.
— -- Four people are dead, including a suspect, following a shooting spree in Colorado Springs, Colorado, police said.
Police were informed of a shooting along North Prospect Street at 8:45 a.m. According to a Colorado Springs Police news release, three victims were fatally wounded before the suspect fired at police. Officers returned fire, killing the suspect.
The officers have been placed on leave in accordance with policy and the shooting is under investigation by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
Colorado Springs Police Lt. Catherine Buckley said that the crime scene covered several downtown streets.
“At this point, we know that we have several crime scenes that spread through a multiple-block area of the city to include some of the major thoroughfares into our downtown area,” Buckley said.
The identities of the victims and suspect have not been released.
