1. Attempt to Save French Citizen in Somalia Fails
U.S. forces assisted in a failed attempt to rescue a French citizen in Somalia on Friday, President Obama said. They provided limited technical support to French forces leading the rescue operation.
2. Newtown Marks One Month Anniversary of Shooting
Today marks the one month anniversary of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Some Newtown residents say the school should be demolished and others believe it should be renovated.
3. Record High Temperatures Recorded on East Coast
Record high temperatures were set on Sunday afternoon, especially over the mid-Atlantic and New England. Dozens of record highs were also set or tied from Ontario to Florida on Saturday.
4. FAA Issues Warning on Coffee to Airlines
The FAA has issued a safety alert to all airlines warning them that packages of coffee grounds in filters have burst while being brewed on commercial planes.
5. 'Argo,' 'Les Mis' Take Top Golden Globe Prizes
"Argo" took home the top prize at the Golden Globes on Sunday night, snagging the award for Best Drama. Ben Affleck also won the award for Best Director. "Les Miserables" was named Best Musical or Comedy with Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman taking home the acting awards for the movie.
