Officials from all three counties gathered today to say. 51 year old Jose Manuel Martinez has now been charged with nine murder counts from Santini as all the -- up to Lindsay. Going back to 1980. Defendant Jose Martinez is charged with special circumstance allegations that include. Multiple murders lying in wait. Kidnapping. And murder for financial gain the most recent homicide which investigators say was for financial gain and committed as he was lying in wait. Happened here in February of 2011. And 56 year old Santiago Perez was found dead in -- home in Exley. Authorities say the contract killer lived in rich growth at one point. He was questioned by detective Darington during that contact on unrelated charges. In June of 2013 Jose Manuel Martinez was arrested by authorities in Alabama. Homicide charge. After Jose Martinez began talking about the more than thirty murders he committed on behalf of Mexican cartels including many out of California.
