I never thought I would do that like every young girl Haley Cornelius grew up adoring the crowns -- gallons of beauty pageant at as the wind coming here I was allowed to stay out. Past -- during -- -- here but to watch at Miss America with mom. -- accident left her partially paralyzed and dependent on the wheelchair I was injured when I was fourteen I don't have boating accident. Where high -- and empire sites back. Her journey has come with plenty of challenges she is -- natural knack for this days she was crowned -- wheelchair Texas 2013. In her first pageant. It's a unique opportunity to you. Really relate to each other and -- you don't get to do on a daily basis pales predecessor Angela Rickles -- with -- wheelchair Texas in 2000 -- -- Now she's organizing pageant for -- wheelchair America. All of these women most likely in their careers and on a day to -- basis they're not surrounded by other women who look like them. And -- to have -- women from coast to coast you use wheelchairs and have a life very similar to theirs to very filling experience. The winner will serve -- national spokesperson for people with disabilities. Contestants ranged from ages 21 to sixty and will be judged in three categories. A personal interview an extemporaneous question. And -- platform speaks through leadership workshops and mentoring events the women are sharpening their advocacy skills and building a sisterhood.
