Woman Survives Small Plane Crash That Killed 3 in Alaska, Officials Say

The crash happened outside Juneau.

— -- A woman survived a small plane crash that killed three others in Alaska Friday in rough weather, according to officials.

The Coast Guard was notified of an emergency beacon from a Cessna 206 airplane near Admiralty Island around 9:30 a.m.

A Coast Guard chopper arrived, but could not land because of the weather, so it went back and picked up a rescue to team to search on the ground.

During the search, rescuers found the survivor as well as three people who had died. Four people were on the plane.

According to Capt. Lance Ewers, of Sitka Mountain Rescue, rescuers were able to get the woman down the mountain to a helicopter.

She was taken to a hospital in Juneau in unknown condition.
