    DeAndre Jones graduated from a junior college with a degree in criminal justice. After months of searching and not finding a job, he attended the Oakland Green Jobs Corps' 16-week boot camp. He plans to continue on to the 10-week intensive "green" program. Jones lives with his parents who were both laid off from their jobs in the last year. He hopes to find work in the "green" sector after graduating.

    Mary Vanek, a mother of five, worked odd jobs and struggled to feed her family on less than $200 a week before going through the Oakland Green Jobs Corps curriculum at the Cypress Mandela Training Center.
