Transcript for Danger in the Skies: Inflight Fight Over Leg Room
We're hearing for the first time from the passenger who forced an emergency landing over leg room. In fact, three planes forced to St in one week over fights. Tonight that passenger defending air rage. Here's ABC's David Kerley. Reporter: Tonight new video of a woman being escorted off a plane, the latest reclining seat fight that led to a flight diversion. It started last week when a Denver man used those plastic gadgets to keep a seat from relining. Tonight he says he's ashamed and embarrassed. Those knee defenders are not illegal but they're not allowed. He said he doesn't tell the passenger in front of him that he's using the defenders. Quote, I'd rather let them think the seat is broken. After being asked to take them off, he did and says the woman in front of him slammed her seat back, a war of words and then the woman threw a soda in his face. Quote, I said I hope you brought your checkbook because you threw your sprite all over my $2,000 laptop. The flight was diverted to Chicago, both passengers removed. Why so many incidents? The theory packed planes as airlines squeeze in more seats and rows. Everybody seems to be pushing and shoving their way onto a plane and then when you finally get to your seat, there's just no leg room left. Reporter: The knee defender man did get home to Denver on another airline, one that does not have reclining seats.
