Transcript for Daughter and Dad Reunited During Act of Kindness
But it turns out they'd already been side by side for some time. Amy roberson has long been a volunteer at this phoenix rescue mission. You come alongside these guys and you talk with them and you just -- it's all about hope. Reporter: And amy has been g out hope, too. Adopted, she has long hoped to meet her birth parents. When I hit my teen years and I really started to wonder about the people who gave me life, so, when all the social networking popped up, you type in names and you hope something comes up, maybe that person looks like you, maybe that age fits. Reporter: Her biological father, pastor will russell, gave her up knowing he wasn't ready at the time. Knowing someone else could be a better father. Years later, hoping he'd meet his daughter, too. It turns out, he had begun to volunteer, as well. I found myself just kind of drawn here, so, I started serving here. Reporter: For a year, both were volunteering, both helping the same people. But in this giant hall, they never met, until dad got a phone call. She'd found him through social media. I said, I don't know how to say this, but I'm your daughter. It's one of those moments when everything just fades to black. He was speechless for a minute. My heart stated racing. She said, please say something. I just wanted him to say something, anything. I found myself smiling and i said, it's going to be okay. Reporter: And they were about to learn something else. That they'd been volunteering at the same rescue mission all along. Incredible to see us in the same place so comfortable. When you start thinking about father's day, in my mind, i think about my heavenly father, what he's done for me and i think how he's blessed me to be a father and made my family complete.
