And now, there is a drama playing out tonight, a famous father has a son about to go to jail. We are talking about former congressman jesse jackson jr. Sentenced to 2 1/2 years for misusing campaign funds. D not only is the former congressman going to jail, so is his wife. Here's abc's linsey davis. Reporter: Quite the fall from grace for jesse jackson jr. The former illinois congressman sentenced today to 30 months behind bars. The judge said jackson treated campaign funds as a personal piggy bank. He and his wife, sandi, who was also sentenced today to a year in prison, after admitting she and her husband both knowingly misspent $750,000 of campaign money on lavish living. Today I manned up and tried to accept responsibility for the errors of my ways. Reporter: Jackson admits to spending including more than $60,000 at restaurants, nightclubs and lounges. A 43,000 gold-plate ed rolex watch. And a $4,600 on a fedora once worn by michael jackson. His father, jesse jackson senior, a civil rights leader and former presidential candidate, suggesting his son's behavior wasargely due to his diagnosis last year of bipolar disorder. He is still recovering. Jesse has been very sick. This time, a year ago, I really thought we may have lost him. Reporter: Jackson spent four weeks at the mayo clinic. But the judge sayss she didn't have enough information from doctors. This has been a very painful journey for our family.
