Tonight a big dream has millions of americans pondering big numbers. Six numbers that could win the biggest powerball ticket ever, $425 million. And the odds are just 1 in 175 million. So what happens if you do win? Here's abc's sharyn alfonsi to track down the workers who won the huge jackpot the last time. Reporter: Remember those eight meatpacking workers who captured the nation' imagination when they won $22 million each with a single ticket? I've been retired for about four days! Reporter: Today, we checked in on them. Remember dave gehle, the sanitation supervisor showed up to work for three weeks after he won. We couldn't just leave them in a bind. Reporter: Gehle told us today he finally took some vacation. Bought a nissan. And sold his two-bedroom house for a three bedroom one in lincoln. We found seven of the eight winners still live in lincoln, population, 260,000. They really haven't changed much at all. Most of the winners that day were family me, but not all. Are you married? No, it's all mine. Reporter: That was chasity rutjens then. Just a few years ago she did get married.E thlucky guy? Rob stewart. Right, there. He too was one of the lucky eight. His ex-wife of his winnings. So how can you increase your odds? Are their lessons from the nebraska eight? Their winning ticket chosen by a computer, but experts say quick picks and personal numbers have the same chance of winning -- in 175 million. The only way to increase your chances of winning is to buy more tickets. But the more everyone buys, the less likely you are to win. Because a lot of people buy tickets, it actually makes the ticket a bad bet. Reporter: So search for lotteries that might have smaller jackpots and also smaller frenzies. And in those lotteries, stay like 3, 7, 11. Sharyn alfonsi, abc news, new york.
