This evening, a large group of protesters have stormed into the building where the justice ministry is housed. Protesters fighting against their president, who has turned his back on America and the west, instead forming a closer alliance with Russia. ABC international correspondent hamish Macdonald on the case again for us tonight. Reporter: All they really want is for the president to go. I will stay here and if the policeman is over there, take a look. Reporter: And they're pushing hard. Seizing more territory in this messy confrontation. It's not really clear, though, at this point, who is in control of this part of the city. Riot police were trapped inside for hours. Eventually they were offered safe passage. It's something between a revolution and war. Reporter: And you're willing to die? Yep. Reporter: Some have already died. Today, they lined the streets to chant "Hero" as the body of one protester killed this week was laid to rest. In kiev right now, Vladimir Putin is not popular. In this square, they brave the blistering cold to fight against many things, including his influence over their country. They want closer ties with Europe. There are the young and the volatile, but there's the peaceful, too. To secure energy and much needed cash injections, this country's president wanted to do big deals with Russia. Now, he's being forced to do deals with the opposition, instead. He wants to share power. At this point, none of the concessions offered by the president have been accepted.
