An outbreak of wildfires raging out of control across several western states. Here's ABC's Clayton Sandell. Reporter: For firefighters out west it hasn't been much of a holiday. Nearly 1,400 on the ground. And in the air. Taking on a 7,000 acre blaze in yolo county, California west of Sacramento. It was a big glow coming over the hills and we seen it come over the top fast. Reporter: Residents and July 4th campers told they must evacuate. The sun is coming up. Mother nature took over one day and that's it. Reporter: A fire in the tiny northern California town of collinsville is out. Not before destroying eight homes. Broke my heart. Starr started crying. Could have been worse. Reporter: California's bone dry terrain isn't helping. 100% is suffering from severe drought or worse. So far this year the number of acres burned is only about half of what it was at this time last year. But experts warn as long as it stays this hot and this dry, the worst of fire season may be yet to come. Elizabeth? ABC's Clayton Sandell. Thanks so much. Some are getting a break and will continue. Take a look though. Not everyone. Monsoon season in full effect Denver down to fee mix. But California left out to dry. Keep in mind that state under a severe drought. The weather worries aren't limited to the west. We have severe in the midwest. Tonight and tomorrow.
