Debut for Royal New Brew Kiss Me, Kate
Feb. 14, 2011 -- Pubs around Britain have a new tipple on draught for fans of Prince William and Kate. Castle Rock Brewery in Nottingham is mixing up a special real ale bursting with British hops and barley to commemorate the royal wedding.
Head brewer Adrian Redgrove says Kiss Me Kate beer will be "elegant, tasteful and British to the core" with a 5 percent alcohol content, making it a fairly strong way to toast the happy couple. Just one run is being produced, totaling about 40 barrels and 100 bottles for collectors.
The brewery offered to throw open its doors to the royal couple if William and Kate decide to go a more frugal route for their reception. Castle Rock's manager joked to the Nottingham Post that she would be happy to put together a menu of pub grub including beer-battered fish, bangers and mash, and sticky toffee pudding.
