Rosario Dawson Shows Support as Undocumented Immigrants are Arrested at DNC

Sept. 4, 2012— -- Ten undocumented activists demonstrating in support of immigration reform were arrested by local police this afternoon when they sat down in an intersection near the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Those arrested were riders on the UndocuBus, a month-long immigrant rights campaign that began in Arizona and has traversed 11 Southern states en route to the DNC, where the action will culminate this week.

The activists called on President Barack Obama to “be on the right side of history” by enacting comprehensive immigration reform, which would create a pathway to citizenship for the estimated 11 million undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
Actress and activist Rosario Dawson spoke to the crowd after arrests were made.
“After four years, our families are still being separated. It’s enough,” she said. “You should not be afraid, things will change in this country.”
