April 19, 2013— -- If you work at a Hispanic media outlet, the chances are House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) followed you on Twitter Friday afternoon.

With the debate over immigration reform heating up, the Speaker's office appears interested in following Hispanic media. Around 85 Hispanic outlets and journalists were added to his Twitter follower list Friday afternoon. Boehner's office also started following other key players in the immigration debate, such as staff members of Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.

Several of those who got the special #followfriday from Boehner took notice.

"We follow a lot of voices on Twitter and are always adding more, but yes, we'll be doing more to engage with Hispanic media in the weeks and months ahead," said Don Seymour, Boehner's digital communications director.
