Celebrate 'Back to the Future' Day in a DeLorean
Unfortunately there are no flying cars.
— -- The past will meet the future tomorrow: New Yorkers can get a ride in a DeLorean, courtesy of ride-sharing service Lyft and Verizon.
In the popular 1989 movie "Back to the Future Part II," Marty McFly travels 30 years into the future to Oct. 21, 2015 in a DeLorean. To celebrate, Lyft is offering New Yorkers free DeLorean rides around the city.
Lyft partnered with Verizon to bring seven DeLoreans to Manhattan. Lyft said they were shipped "from all over the country."
Lyft users simply need to request a ride up to 15 minutes long in "McFly Mode." And like McFly, time will run out quickly, as the limited rides are only available to New Yorkers from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
When choosing between the company’s ride options (the traditional Lyft, carpooling Line or Lyft Plus), choose “McFly.” If you are one of the lucky passengers to score a ride, you can pretend to be Michael J. Fox’s character in the film.
