    Italian actress Gina Lollobrigida sold her jewelry for more than $4.9 million as part of Sotheby's "Magnificent Jewels and Nobel Jewels" auction in Geneva, Switzerland which sold more than 600 lots worth $78.2 million on May 14, 2013. Lollobrigida was known as a leading bombshell in the 1950s and 1960s. The actress, 85, said she sold the items for stem cell research.

    A pair of Lollobrigida's diamond and natural pearl earrings sold for over $2.34 million, a world auction record for a pair of pearl ear pendants. The earrings beat the price of those owned by the late actress Elizabeth Taylor. Her diamond and natural pearl earrings sold for $1.98 million in 2011.

    This diamond necklace/bracelet combination from Bulgari, 1954, sold for about $783,851. With a "floral design featuring circular-cut and tapered baguette diamonds, some links pavé-set, signed Bulgari," the necklace "may be separated into four elements, two may be worn as bracelets or a diadem."

    A pair of emerald and diamond pendent ear clips from Bulgari, 1964, sold for over $306,600. Each have a detachable pendant with a pear-shaped emerald, "further set with marquise-, pear-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds, signed Bulgari, pouch stamped Bulgari."
