— -- "Falling Skies" actress Moon Bloodgood, 39, has taken to YouTube to ask for help in saving her 16-month-old niece Olive and others like her.

The actress posted a short video online over the weekend in which she said, "As you watch this video, my 16-month-old niece is fighting for her life. Olive was diagnosed with a severe congenital heart defect and is in desperate need of a heart and lung transplant."

Bloodgood explains that this type of birth defect is the No. 1 birth defect in the United States and 70 percent of children like her niece will die waiting for a transplant.

The video was a plea to increase awareness of the need for organ donation, "so that beautiful children like my niece Olive and countless others have a chance at a normal life."

"Please, please consider organ donation for people of all ages," she added.

The video ends with pictures of her niece.

There's also a link to Olive's Facebook page, where people can "follow her journey" and possibly help.

The group's page reads, "Olive was born in October of 2013. She has CHD called Tetralogy of Fallot, Pulmonary Atresia, MAPCAS & Pulmonary Vein Stenosis. She is the youngest candidate on the Heart/Lung Transplant list at LPCH in Stanford. This Facebook page is all about Olive's journey. If you wish to help Olive in anyway please contact via email: SaveOliveKang@gmail.com."

Bloodgood told People magazine that the situation with her niece is dire, hence the need for a video plea to raise awareness, maybe even help Olive.

"Olive's parents were told we might have to start preparing for hospice care if the donor doesn’t come soon," Bloodgood told People. "Her lungs are dying. She could go tonight or in two weeks or in three weeks. They definitely don't think she has more than a month."
