— -- Ali Wentworth has a new comedy show called "Nightcap" in which she stars as a neurotic talent booker for a late-night talk show, “but you never go out on stage, you never see the host,” she told ABC News.

Instead, “It’s all the dysfunction and the broken toys that make a show,” she added.

Her character, Staci Cole, is “married” to her job, is “highly neurotic” and will “do anything to get talent to appear on the show,” Wentworth explained.

"Good Morning America" went behind the scenes of one episode with a very high-profile guest: her real-life husband, George Stephanopoulos.

“It took 15 years of marriage to get him to come do something on my turf,” she joked.

“This is harder than it looks,” Stephanopoulos said of guest-starring on the scripted comedy. “Could you imagine what it would be like if our producers at ‘GMA’ tried to give me notes the way she does?”

Wentworth, who created the show, stars on the show, writes on the show and executive-produces the show, said her husband “did great” during his appearance.

She thinks the concept of “Nightcap” is hilarious to those who work in television.

“Behind the scenes of a talk show is the real show,” she said on “GMA” today. “You know, the pervy sound guy, the neurotic producer, the stage manager. I like to explore that world and the celebrities come on and play funny versions of themselves.”

Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the celebs who joined the set of “Nightcap” and apparently shared an intimate moment with Wentworth.

“I make out with Sarah Jessica Parker,” she said. “Our kids were on the set that day, and Sarah and I kiss, and our 11-year-old screamed and we had to cut and retake it.

“That was a weird day,” Stephanopoulos added. “After that take I had to take our two girls and Sarah’s boy out to dinner and we had a deep, intense conversation about sexuality.”

Wentworth, 51, said her new show is a “fun romp.”

“It’s really fun to see people like a Gwyneth Paltrow come on and play and do something funny and get to do something else they don’t normally get to do,” she explained.

"Nightcap" premieres on Pop tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
