— -- “Black-ish” is turning back time for its second season finale in what the show’s star, Anthony Anderson, called an “homage” to the 1970s sitcom.

“John Amos is the quintessential black daddy in the ‘hood and so we had to do a throwback show to that, just to pay homage to that,” Anderson said today on “Good Morning America,” referring to the actor who played James Evans, Sr. on “Good Times.”

In Wednesday’s episode, Anderson’s character, Andre Johnson, has a dream in which his whole family, the Johnsons, are turned into the Evans family.

“’Good Times’ is a show that was a staple in our household and it’s just our ode to ‘Good Times,’” Anderson said. “It was a great time doing that show, just reliving your childhood television show and playing these characters that I grew up wanting to be a part of.”

The "Black-ish" season 2 finale, titled “Good-ish Times,” airs Wednesday at 9:31 p.m. ET.
