Ariel Winter Says She Plans to Defer College

— -- "Modern Family" star Ariel Winter says she plans to wait another year before starting college at UCLA.

The 18-year-old actress told E! News on Thursday night that college will have to wait because of work.

"Unfortunately this year, due to production schedule, I have to start next year," she told E! "So I will be starting as a [UCLA] Bruin next year."

Winter says she will major in political science.

Earlier this year, Winter announced her big decision on Instagram.

"It's an AMAZING DAY! I'm going to UCLA - thank you to everyone who has been there for me on this journey! #bruinsbaby," she wrote in the post.

A request for comment from Winter's rep was not immediately returned to ABC News.
