It all started Monday when Kardashian, 35, posted a nearly nude photo of herself on her social media accounts. Midler, 70, reacted by saying on Twitter, "Kim Kardashian tweeted a nude selfie today. If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera."

But Kardashian wasn't going to let Midler have the last word. She responded to Midler late Monday night, claiming the "Wind Beneath My Wings" singer was a "fake friend."

Midler defended herself in a series of tweets, and then went on to use the attention to promote her cause, Stages for Success, which raises funds to help transform schools' auditoriums.

"I never tried to fake friend you. Looks like anyone can take a selfie but not everyone can take a joke," she wrote Tuesday. "@KimKardashian wants me to send her my nudes! I'll send them right over but the lighting's bad right now since she threw all that shade!"

She added Wednesday night, "@KimKardashian Put your selfie to work...for a good cause! Donate, RT, I'll match $$ 2-1!" with a link to Stages for Success.

So far, Kardashian hasn't responded.
