Bradley Cooper showed off some bulk Monday night at the Met Gala.

The Oscar nominee is playing Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in "American Sniper" and has reportedly put on 40 pounds for the role.

Last night, it showed.

The scruffy hunk was adorned in a white bow-tie and black tux, but definitely appeared larger and muscular.

"He put on like 40 pounds," his co-star in the film, Eric Close, told E! News last month. "He's really been working hard. He looks great. He's really taken on this character…He really takes this story personally and wants to do an honorable job for Chris' memory and for his family."

The movie about Kyle will be directed by Clint Eastwood. Should we expect another Oscar nomination for Cooper, 39, in the near future?

Cooper showed up early and although they didn't pose together, the actor's girlfriend Suki Waterhouse took time to stop for cameras right after the start of the gala.
