June 12, 2014 — -- Celine Dion and husband René Angélil have known each other for more than 30 years, but after three decades of working together, Angélil will be stepping down as manager of his wife's career.

The couple married in 1994 after meeting 14 years prior. They have three sons.

It has been a rough year for Angélil, whose cancer returned in December before it was revealed in February that he was still recovering from an operation to remove a tumor in his throat.

"I don't want René to stress out with work-related issues," Dion, 46, said in a statement in February. "I want him to focus on getting back to 100 percent."

Despite his stepping down as her manager, "He'll still be involved in the decision making," a rep for the couple told ABC News today.

Taking over as Dion's manager and CEO of Feeling Productions will be Aldo Giampaolo, ABC News has confirmed.

“Considering our longstanding friendship, our mutual respect and our past collaborations, this was a logical step for all of us,” Angélil, 72, said in a statement.

The new CEO will head to Las Vegas in August, where Dion's label is located and she is a frequent performer.

Angélil and Giampaolo first worked together in 1993.
