Emma Roberts Says Fiance 'Thought I Was So Weird' When They Met

Jan. 31, 2014 — -- Newly engaged Emma Roberts didn't know for sure things would turn out as well as they did with fiance Evan Peters when the two met on the set of "Adult World" in 2012.

In fact, she admits that Peters didn't like her that way at first.

"Everyone thought we dated on the movie and we didn't, not for a long time after," Roberts, 22, told Chelsea Handler on Wednesday. "I actually, on the set, was like, 'Oh yeah, we're totally gonna date.' And I would try to like flirt with him, which ended up looking like I had something in my eye because I'd be like, 'Hey, what's up?' And he literally didn't speak to me the entire movie. He thought I was so weird."

She added that with no makeup on filming the movie, "I was not exactly looking cute to get a man! So, we ended up dating way, way later."

Eventually Peters realized he better make a move.

"He texted me and then we got together," she added. The two became engaged over the holidays and the news broke early in January.

Now, they both star on "American Horror Story: Coven," so obviously working together has never been a problem.

The one problem they have had happened back in July, when Roberts was arrested after she had a fight with Peters. He sustained minor injuries.

"It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding," according to a joint statement from the couple's reps. "Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."
