— -- Holly Madison has written a tell-all book detailing her not-so-glamorous life as Hugh Hefner’s “number one girlfriend,” so why would the reality TV star say she would have married Hefner after all?

“I didn’t think anyone else would want me having been there,” Madison told ABC News’ Nick Watt of her time at the Playboy Mansion.

Madison, 35, spent seven years with Hefner, 89, which much of their relationship on display on the reality TV show “Girls Next Door.”

In her new book, “Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny,” Madison, who says she was “scared” to leave the Playboy Mansion, says there was much more going on behind the scenes.

“There’s everything that you wanted to know in my book and a little bit more that you didn’t even want to know,” Madison told Watt.

Madison claims in the book that Hefner had rules for his girlfriends that included being home by 9 p.m.; would refer to himself in the third person as “Daddy;” would pit his girlfriends against each other and would make his girlfriends wear matching flannel pink pajamas for sex sessions.

“I don’t really like to out the other girls but he definitely didn’t have any girlfriends he wasn’t sleeping with,” Madison said.

Hefner's former girlfriend also wrote that she felt pressure to get plastic surgery and one night thought about killing herself, before leaving the relationship with Hefner and the mansion.

“Over time I just couldn’t take it anymore and I’m glad I left,” Madison said. “I definitely feel like I escaped from something.”

Madison went on to marry Pasquale Rotella in September 2013, just a few months after she gave birth to the couple’s daughter, Rainbow.

Hefner, who also went on to tie the knot, in 2012 with 29-year-old Crystal Harris, says his ex has “chosen to rewrite history.”

"Over the course of my life I've had more than my fair share of romantic relationships with wonderful women," the Playboy creator said in a statement to ABC News. "Many moved on to live happy, healthy and productive lives and I'm pleased to say remain dear friends today. Sadly, there are a few who have chosen to rewrite history in an attempt to stay in the spotlight."

“Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny" is in bookstores now.
