— -- New mom Julia Stiles wrote that she had no idea the criticism she'd receive after posting a second picture of her newborn son.

The "10 Things I Hate About You" actress and her husband Preston J. Cook welcomed Strummer Newcomb Cook on Oct. 20.

Last week Stiles, 36, posted a photo of herself carrying her son in a frontside carrier. His face and feet were cautiously inside the baby holster.

"It was brought to my attention that in the previous photo I am not holding my baby correctly," the actress wrote Saturday. "Wow, I didn't expect that."

Stiles said the posted photo "was supposed to be a shout out of products I like" and instead was turned into "an invitation to comment on my baby, and my ability as a mother."

"That's the internet for you, the carnivorous plant from 'Little Shop of Horrors,'" she quipped.

Stiles explained that she normally doesn't carry Strummer in the holster as she displayed.

"I was trying to keep much of my son's image private, including, I guess, his little feet," she clarified. "And it was just a photo taken at home, not how I normally carry him around. Thanks for the concern, anyway."

She also gave a suggestion to mommy-shamers on Instagram: "Instead of writing snarky comments about a 5 week old, try dancing around your living room to a Clash record. It's way more fun."

Before welcoming their bundle of joy, Stiles announced back in September that she had wed Cook, a camera assistant. The two met on the set of the 2015 film, "Go with Me."
