Kim Kardashian West Announces Her Son Is No Longer Breech
Reality TV star underwent a successful procedure to turn her baby.
— -- Kim Kardashian West has one less thing to worry about before giving birth to her second child.
The reality star, who is expecting a boy with husband Kanye West, announced Tuesday that her baby has turned from his breech position in her womb.
In a post on her website, Kardashian West, 35, detailed how doctors got baby boy West in the proper position for birth.
"This weekend, I checked into the hospital and underwent a procedure called an ECV (External Cephalic Version, or a Version), which is done to manually turn the baby from a breech position to a head-down position. They gave me an IV with medication to relax my uterus, and then three doctors attempted to work together to turn the baby," she wrote.
"They don't give you any pain medication, and let me tell you: This was soooooo painful. Probably more painful than childbirth," she said.
The "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star first revealed last week that her baby son was in a breech position and that would require a C-section if he didn't turn on his own.
Hoping to avoid a C-section, she underwent ECV, but was prepared for the worst.
"There was a risk that my water might break or the baby's heart rate could drop -- in which case, an emergency C-section would then take place. I went in with my sisters and my husband. I was prepared for it all!" Kardashian wrote Tuesday.
Fortunately, everything went according to plan.
"It worked!!! My baby is in the right position and it feels so good to not have the stress of thinking I need a C-section," she continued. "I'm so thankful for my doctors!"
Kardashian, already mom to daughter North West, 2, is due right around Christmas.
