Lisa Edelstein Almost Played Carrie Bradshaw on 'Sex and the City'
Edelstein revealed that it was virtually a done deal, except for one detail.
— -- Lisa Edelstein, who currently stars on Bravo's "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce," came very close to playing "Sex and the City's" main character, Carrie Bradshaw.
"It wasn't a rumor," the 49-year-old actress tells Access Hollywood earlier this week. "That actually happened."
When asked if she was approached for the role, Edelstein revealed that it was virtually a done deal, except for one detail.
"I was either going to do it or not. It all depended on whether she said yes," she recalled, referring to "Sex and the City" star Sarah Jessica Parker, who was weighing her own offer at the time.
"My contract was complete," Edelstein said. "I was waiting."
Edelstein, who subsequently scored a prime role in the medical drama "House," also confessed that missing out on "Sex and the City" ruined her ability to enjoy the show as a viewer.
"Yeah, I didn't really watch it," she said. "It was too painful."
Landing the lead role in "Girlfriends' Guide to Divorce" has given her a new perspective on the whole experience.
"I love the comparisons now," she noted. "It's sort of a funny thing, that when life comes around that way."
