March 31, 2014— -- Michael Jackson’s legacy as the King of Pop continues to evolve.

Epic Records and the singer’s estate announced today that a never-before-heard, 8-track album titled "Xscape" will be released on May 13.

The executive producer of the album, L.A. Reid, Chairman and CEO of Epic Records, found the previously recorded vocals after being granted unlimited access to four decades worth of Jackson’s material.

As a project to "contemporize" the music, Reid asked Timbaland to be the lead producer.

"Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with," said Reid in the statement.

Other producers include Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon, John McClain and Rodney Jerkins.

Jerkins began "contemporizing" theme when he wrote and produced "Xscape" -- the song after which the album is named -- with Jackson that was meant to be part of 2001 album "Invincible."

As one of the greatest figures in music history, the album is meant to nourish the singer’s loyal fan base while simultaneously keeping the legacy alive among newer generations.
