Why Mike Myers Is Starring in a Sears Canada Ad
The duo joins a list of celebrities and their not-so-famous siblings in ads
— -- Mike Myers is the funny man behind iconic movie characters like “Austin Powers” and Wayne from “Wayne’s World" and "Shrek."
But if you are watching TV in Canada, you may see the Canada native appearing as a pitchman for none other than Sears.
Myers is starring in a new ad for the retail chain alongside his older brother, Peter Myers, who has worked for the company for 32 years.
The ad shows Myers ripping on his tabloid fame and singing the old “softer side of Sears” jingle, until his brother tells him the company does not use the song anymore.
Myers instead offers up another slogan, looking into the camera and saying, “Sears Canada. My brother works there.”
The YouTube video of the ad, titled #MyBrotherWorksatSears, has racked up over 1 million views since it was posted last week.
It aired only in Canada.
