— -- With her busy schedule, Mindy Kaling doesn't really have a lot of time to devote to her personal life.

But the actress isn't concerned about her single status.

"When I was younger, I wanted so badly to be married and have kids in a rush," she told Good Housekeeping. But now, "I don't need marriage. I don't need anyone to take care of all my needs and desires. I can take care of them myself now."

Kaling, 35, said her parents' marriage is something she has always admired, but "I don't know that that will happen for me."

Now, she's enjoying dating when she can.

"If I could relive the first three months of courtship over and over for the rest of my life, I would. Especially in winter, who doesn't like a nice heavy seven-course meal with lots of alcohol, then making out when you're a little tipsy and taking a cab home to fall asleep in the clothes you wore on the date?" she said. "Wait. Actually that was, like, my whole twenties. And it was very fun."

Another big part of her younger years? Her ex-turned-best friend, B.J. Novak, with whom she is often photographed.

"I'm definitely not in the friends-with-my-exes camp, but B.J. has the stamp for life as a friend," she said. "My mom loved him. He feels like family."
