— -- Nathan Fillion has nothing but nice things to say about his "Castle" co-star Stana Katic.

On Monday, ABC News confirmed that Katic would leave the series after this season, and today, Fillion broke his silence about the news.

Calling the ABC detective series "one of the greatest joys of my creative life," the actor thanked Katic for "creating the character of [police officer Kate] Beckett."

"I wish her well, and have no doubt she will succeed in everything she pursues," he wrote in a statement posted to Twitter. "She will be missed."

Katic has starred in "Castle" alongside Fillion since 2009. Though the show has not yet been renewed for a ninth season, ABC confirmed that Katic and Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie Parish, will not return if it is.

“Kate Beckett has been a beloved character on our hit series 'Castle’ for the past eight years. We are grateful for Stana Katic’s talent and dedication to the series and we hope to continue our relationship," read a statement from the network. "Tamala Jones has also been an integral part of the series and we are grateful she was a part of 'Castle.'"
