Nicki Minaj Opens Up About Abortion She Had as Teen
"I thought I was going to die," she said.
— -- Nicki Minaj said one of her goals with her new album "The Pinkprint" was to give her fans a look into her personal life.
In fact, the "Anaconda" rapper, 32, even refers to an abortion she had as a teen in the album and is now opening up to Rolling Stone magazine about the haunting experience.
"I thought I was going to die," she told the magazine of when she found out she was pregnant while in high school in Queens, New York. "I was a teenager. It was the hardest thing I'd ever gone through."
She called it something that has "haunted me all my life" and added, "It'd be contradictory if I said I wasn't pro-choice. I wasn't ready. I didn't have anything to offer a child."
Minaj has kept her private life under wraps until now, but said "I decided there's no reason for me to hide. I'm a vulnerable woman, and I'm proud of that."
In fact after a recent breakup, Minaj says "I had to learn to do something as simple as sleep alone."
The latest issue of Rolling Stone hits newsstands this Friday.
