The film was directed by Rob Reiner and featured an all-star cast of actors like Billy Crystal, Christopher Guest, Robin Wright, Mandy Patinkin, Carol Kane and Fred Savage in their early years, all who went on to become Hollywood heavyweights in movies, TV and the stage.

Robin Wright played the Princess Bride in the cult classic. Since the film, she has had a very busy career. She starred in the 2011 hit "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" and she just wrapped "The Congress" and "Two Mothers." Wright is currently filming "A Most Wanted Man" alongside Rachel McAdams and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Fred Savage portrayed the young boy whose grandfather, played by Peter Falk, reads the book to him, effectively narrating the movie as it unfolds. Savage grew up to become a heartthrob in the '90s for his role as Kevin Arnold in the classic TV series "The Wonder Years."

Cary Elwes has gone on to appear in numerous shows and films, including "The X-Files," "Robin Hood: Men in Tights," and the "Saw" franchise. After her role in "The Princess Bride," Robin Wright went on to win a Golden Globe Best Supporting Actress award for "Forrest Gump."

Wallace Shawn is instantly recognizable for his portrayal of Sicilian criminal genius, Vizzini , in "The Princess Bride." He is now a playwright and has acted in several movies, including "Clueless" and the TV series "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine."

"Hello. My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." That line, uttered by Mandy Patinkin as Montoya, the fencing virtuoso from Spain, elevated the actor, and the film, to iconic status. Patinkin went on to star in the CBS series "Criminal Minds." He is an acclaimed singer and stage actor.

Actor and comedian Billy Crystal, 63, played Miracle Max, a former servant of the king who brings Westley back from the brink of death. A "Saturday Night Live" alum, Crystal went on to star on Broadway and hit films including "When Harry Met Sally," "Running Scared" and "City Slickers." Also, he has hosted the Academy Awards nine times.

Christopher Guest portrayed six-fingered vizier Count Tyrone Rugen in the film. Now a noted writer of "mockumentaries" such as "Best in Show," he married actress Jamie Lee Curtis at the home of "Princess Bride" director Rob Reiner.

The man at the center of movie's love triangle, Prince Humperdinck, was memorably played by actor Chris Sarandon. After "The Princess Bride," Sarandon moved on to TV and the stage, appearing on CBS's "Judging Amy" and in the Broadway musical "The Light in the Piazza."

Actress Carol Kane played Valerie, the wife of Miracle Max, in the film, but is best known for her role in the '80s TV series "Taxi." She also acted in the Woody Allen movie "Annie Hall," and, more recently, portrayed Madame Morrible in the Broadway musical "Wicked."

"The Princess Bride" is a classic movie beloved across generations. The 1987 film, based on a book by William Goldman , centers on how Westley, a farm boy turned pirate (played by Cary Elwes) overcomes hardships to be with his true love, Buttercup (portrayed by Robin Wright).
