May 15, 2014 — -- Prince Harry has sent out his first ever tweet.

Harry, 29, tweeted in public, using an iPad in London promoting September's Invictus Games, which he helped to create for injured servicemen and women.

"For many of those who have suffered life-changing injuries, sport plays a huge, important part in their recovery," Harry said at today's news conference for the games.

For his first tweet, Harry used the @InvictusLondon account and wrote, "Hope everyone will get behind #invictusgames. Great opportunity to support and thank the men and women who have given so much. Harry."

Harry tweeted in front of everyone at the news conference and even joked as it took him a little while to type out the message, saying, "That's why I joined the army -- I can't type fast."
