Sam Smith to See Specialist for Vocal Cord Injury
The singer had to cancel more tour dates.
— -- One week after cancelling his Australian tour due to a hemorrhage on his vocal chords, Sam Smith announced on Monday that he had to miss more tour dates.
"Very upset about Japan and Manilla dates. I've just left Australia and I'm on my way to the states to see a specialist to see what to do from there... This is f****** horrid," the Grammy winner wrote next to an Instagram picture of himself looking forlorn.
This comes just seven days after Smith, 22, wrote on Instagram about his Aussie tour, "The doctors have told me I need to fully rest until my vocal chords have healed, otherwise this could become a huge long-term issue. I am so sorry to all who have bought tickets, I truly am."
He followed this up a few days later by writing, "I haven't spoken a word in three days. Trying my absolute best to be back on my feet and singing for next week. So amazing to have this time to turn off, but it does make me realise how much I love what I do, and how much I miss you all when I'm not on stage."
He was expected to perform in Tokyo on May 7, but needs more medical help before he can get back on stage.
