'The Secret Life of Pets' Sets Box Office Record

— -- The word's out on "The Secret Life of Pets."

It raked in an estimated $103.2 million from Friday through Sunday, a record debut total for an original animated film. It surpassed the previous mark of $90.4 million, set last year by Disney-Pixar's "Inside Out."

"The Secret Life of Pets," whose voice cast includes Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet and Kevin Hart, explores what pets are up to when their human owners leave their home for the day.

Another animated hit, "Finding Dory," had its three-weekend winning streak end; it fell to third place, collecting $20.4 million. The Disney-Pixar sequel is now the top-grossing film of the year at the domestic box office, having earned $423 million to date.

Disney is the parent company of ABC News.

The weekend's other new film, the raunchy comedy "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates," opened in fourth place, with $16.6 million. The film stars Zac Efron, Adam Devine, Aubrey Plaza and Anna Kendrick.
