— -- Music superstar Shakira says she and the character she portrays in the new Disney animated movie “Zootopia” have at least one thing in common.

“She’s very opinionated like me,” Shakira, 39, told “Good Morning America” correspondent Rachel Smith, of the character, Gazelle. “And she feels a social responsibility. She feels responsible for her people.”

Shakira, a mom of two young sons, not only gave voice to Gazelle in “Zootopia” – which follows the unlikely friendship of a bunny and a fox -- she also had an input in the character’s look.

“When the directors and the producers showed me Gazelle, I thought she was too skinny. She was too fit,” said the "Hips Don't Lie" singer. “So I told them, ‘Guys, you gotta put some meat on the bones.’”

“They added bigger hips to Gazelle,” Shakira told Smith. “They also changed her eye color. They gave her some more eyelashes.”

“Zootopia” is scheduled to be released on March 4.

"Zootopia" is produced by Disney, which is the parent company of ABC News.
