'Star Wars' Characters to Appear on British Postage Stamps
Some old and new faces from the series are featured in the stamps.
— -- Great Britain is paying its own unique tribute to “Star Wars” a few months ahead of the release of the film “The Force Awakens.”
Royal Mail, Britain's postal agency, will issue a set of 18 stamps featuring characters such as Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo -- as well as characters from the new film, including Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren. The stamps will go on sale October 20.
The stamps were illustrated by Malcolm Tween, according to the Royal Mail. The bottom right of the stamps will feature a secondary character or scene.
A souvenir sheet of six stamps features the space ships and vehicles form the movies, including the Millennium Falcon, X-Wings and TIE fighters.
The United States Postal Service issued its own set of "Star Wars" stamps in 2007 to mark the 30th anniversary of “Episode IV: A New Hope.”
"Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens" opens December 17 in Britain and in America a day later.
Lucasfilm, which produces "Star Wars", and ABC News are owned by The Walt Disney Co.
