Actress Daisy Ridley, 23, is continuing the "Star Wars" legacy as Rey in the upcoming "The Force Awakens," which hits theaters in just two weeks.
As part of "Star Wars" week on ABC News' "Good Morning America," Ridley stopped by today to chat about her character and how Rey is even an inspiration for young girls and young actresses around the world.
"The way I think about it is, if I showed it to my little sister, I would be so pleased for her to see the film," she said. "We were just talking about Jennifer Lawrence. The Katniss Everdeen [character] has been so progressive for the female audience. So, it’s nice to continue that kind of thing."
Ridley has seen "The Force Awakens" and explained the really sweet way she kind of freaked out right after.
"I came out [of the film screening] and I’m like, ‘Yeah, I’m cool,’ and then I got in the car and I was like 'Wahhhh' the whole way. And then the whole way home," she added. "It’s the first time I’ve really seen myself do something, so I was quite overwhelmed."
The native of Westminster, U.K., said she feels that "for the last couple years I feel like I’ve been living in the Twilight Zone" as her acting career has absolutely taken off.
"Sometimes I look back on things and I’m like, ‘Ah,’ like the first few months of filming I cannot remember. I was just like overwhelmed and so emotional. So I think in a few years, to look back will be [nice]," she said. "But right now it just feels exciting. But also unreal. It doesn’t feel like it’s going on."
"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" hits theaters on Dec. 18 nationwide.
