January 10 -- Woody Allen's 100-year-old father, Martin Konigsberg, passed away Monday, according to The Associated Press.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker had just told the New York Daily News that a family doctor had told him his father "could pass a draft physical tomorrow."

"My father is a classic example of a guy who smoked two packs a day since he was 16," said Allen, whose given name is Allen Stewart Konigsberg. "[He e]ats two eggs for breakfast and meat for dinner seven days a week, dishes of ice cream before bed at night."

Konigsberg, who turned 100 on Dec. 25, was a former restaurant waiter and jewelry engraver. That might explain why, in the Allen documentary Wild Man Blues, Konigsberg appears blasé about his son's many trophies and plaques except for the quality of the engraving on them.

Konigsberg is also survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Nettie Konigsberg, and his daughter, film producer Letty Aronson.
