David Spade Attacked by Employee

B E V E R L Y   H I L L S, Calif., Nov. 30 -- Actor David Spade said today theman arrested for allegedly attacking him with a stun gun is afriend who is obviously mentally troubled right now and needshelp.

David Malloy was a good friend of mine for five years. Myheart goes out to him, the star of the sitcom Just Shoot Mesaid in a statement.

Spade, 36, suffered minor injuries when Malloy allegedly used astun gun on him after entering Spades home around 6:20 a.m.Wednesday, said police Sgt. Tom Van Ausdell.

Spade declined to be taken to a hospital and was treated byparamedics on the scene, Van Ausdell said.

Intruder ArrestedPolice said David Warren Malloy, 29, of Los Angeles had fled bythe time officers arrived. A warrant was obtained, and he wasarrested later Wednesday afternoon at about 3:30 p.m. in Brea and booked forinvestigation of burglary, assault with a deadly weapon and assaultwith a stun gun. Bail was set at $50,000.

I believe he is a good person who is obviously mentallytroubled right now. I can only hope that he seeks the help he needsto get well, Spade said in his statement.

Van Ausdell said Malloy was in an Orange County hospitalWednesday night, but he did not know which hospital, or why Malloywas there.

I cant comment on his medical condition at all, police Lt.Ed Kreines said today.

Malloy was a current employee of Spade and worked as a personalassistant to the actor, Van Ausdell said. He did not know howMalloy got into Spades home.

Spade got his start on Saturday Night Live, and appeared ina series of movies as straight man to the late Chris Farley. OnNBCs Just Shoot Me, which also stars Laura San Giacomo, Spadeplays the assistant to a magazine publisher played by George Segal.
