September 28 -- 98 Degrees' hotly anticipated new album, Revelation, hit the streets Tuesday, but don't expect to see the quartet onstage for a while. The group's Nick Lachey says that it will be early 2001 before he, brother Drew Lachey, and their bandmates, Jeff Timmons and Justin Jeffre, mount a tour to support the album.

"We're going to take the fall and really concentrate on international [promotion], spend a little time in Asia and Europe," Lachey says. "We really feel like this is our opportunity to make this a worldwide event.

"The other part of it is we want the fans out there to have a chance to listen to the new album, get familiar with it," he continues. "We don't want to have another tour that was off the last album. We want people to know our new music, and be excited about coming to see a show with that [music] in it."

That doesn't mean that the group isn't thinking about its stage show, however. Lachey acknowledges that 98 Degrees' previous outings have been "entertaining, but pretty bare bones" certainly compared to the pyrotechnic displays of fellow pop heroes such as the Backstreet Boys, 'N Sync, and Britney Spears. But Lachey says that while 98 Degrees hopes to turn up the visual heat, it also wants to make sure that the spectacle doesn't overwhelm its harmonies.

"You can have overkill, as far as that's concerned," he says. "At the same time, we're very interested in exploring all our options, and seeing what we can do in terms of technologically stepping things up. So we're very excited about putting this show together. That's one of the most exciting things you can do, is go out on tour with a great show."
