Merv Griffin in Intensive Care

The "Jeopardy!' and "Wheel of Fortune" creator is battling prostate cancer.

Aug. 10, 2007 — -- Entertainment mogul Merv Griffin has been hospitalized in Los Angeles. Griffin, the creator of hit TV game shows "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune," was admitted to the intensive care unit at Cedars-Sinai hospital for a recurrence of prostate cancer.

The 82-year-old was hospitalized briefly last month after the recurrence was discovered during a routine checkup.

The entertainer, former talk show host and band singer has been battling the disease since 1996.
